Summary: I think what would be extra agonizing about James Neal + baby is that the reason Paulie didn’t hook up with him while he was in Pittsburgh is that he thought James was too young for him. James flirted like crazy at first, and it’s not like Paul wasn’t tempted (oh god was he tempted), but James is young and reckless and nowhere near ready to settle down. Paul knew himself, knew he’d get too attached to someone who’s just looking to fool around, so he shut that down. James gave up on the flirting eventually, moved on to a bunch of casual hook-ups, and they settled into an easy friendship.
