This ‘verse is so lovely! I love the interaction between Snape and Harry and how their relationship grows. They are just so sweet together and little Harry is so charming, I love it! ♥♥ I also like the friendship between Harry and Neville — they are just too cute. Also, the Absense of Unhappy was particularly awesome and I’m totally curious about that ‘verse as well.

Hermione J. Granger Tries Something New

I love how this gave us a little bit of what Hermione went through getting the letter and leaving everything behind to go to Hogwarts. It kind of sucks that the books is limited Harry’s POV because we miss out on what other characters go through and it must have been so hard for Hermione in the beginning since she was essentially friendless whereas Hary had already made a best friend. I love the characterization and how it kind of made my heart ache, but at least we know that she does end up making friends and having the time of her life. ♥ Also, the scene with Hermione and Neville in the train was absolutely perfect. ♥♥

I really love Draco’s characterization here and how good he is at using his connections and the Malfoy reputation to make and grow his business. I love the fact that it all started off with the ad about Grimmauld Place and how, in the end, he makes the choice to further his business and future instead of holding onto what the past that Grimmauld Place represented.

Dear Aunt Snape

I love Snape’s responses to the letters he was getting and how it contrasted with the generic answers he was writing in the beginning when he was trying to give the audience what he thought they wanted. I also love the last letter and Snape considering his life and his choices and how it leaves off with such a open and hopeful ending. I really wish there was more, but I also think that the ending was perfect for this fic.

I’ve never read this scenerio before, but given my love for Severitus, it was inevitable that I would love this idea as well. I thought the situation regarding how Snape fathered Hermione was pretty believable — probably more so than the way most Severitus fics handle it with Harry. The characterization was spot-on as well — I really liked the interaction between Snape and Hermione and how things deviated from canon based on that. I would definitely read more from this ‘verse if the author ever decided to continue playing around in it.

I haven’t read this in a while, but I had the urge to reread it the other day and it was one of the fics I had saved on my laptop while I was internet deprived, so you know. XP Anyway, I had forgotten how freakin’ long it was! I mean, I remembered it being long, but yeah, there were a lot of things that happened that I had forgotten all about, lol. This was actually the first Severitus fic I’d ever read and is probably one of the best, though I haven’t read too many of them. I do really like the idea though — the Severitus Challenge, if you are unfamilar, primarily refers to the concept of Snape being Harry’s biological father. It just seems like such an intriguing idea and I liked the way GatewayGirl executed the concept.

I absolutely love this fic. It’s just so Harry and Draco and it’s awesome.

“I wish your little friends could see you,” he said. “The great Harry Potter, resorting to malicious attacks over a stupid letter. I’d hate to see how you’d manage in a real fight.”

Potter laughed, and it was only then that Draco noticed that he, too, was holding his wand. “You’ve got it absolutely right, Malfoy. All those little annoyances you’ve caused me and my friends over the years? They have all the earth-shattering significance of a paper cut. Badges? Playing Dementor dress-up? Ratting me out to Umbridge? Paper. Cut. Keeping my letter hostage? A little more impressive. I imagine you stayed awake all night thinking up all these ridiculous arrangements.

“But I don’t have time to play your little game anymore. This is going to sound crazy, but I wish to God I did. I would love for this petty annoyance to rank up there with things I really need to devote my time and effort to. And it was a great diversion while it lasted; I have to thank you for that. But I can’t do it anymore. Give me my letter, Malfoy. Please.”

And then, when Draco casted Incendio, my heart kind of stopped! And I’m so glad that there was more after that because the first time I read it through, I thought that it might be it, but it wasn’t.

And the end! OMG, I wanted more, but it was perfect. Read it, read it, read it!

What We Know

Oh, this fic..! I love it so much! I just love the overall tone in the fic and how Harry and Draco meet each other again and become friends, and deciding to work together to do something worthwhile. *LOVE* It’s almost a gen!fic in a way, with just a hint of relationship. =) But those little bits with the spontaneous hand-holding and the kiss were perfect and awesome and great. XP

Oh, this fic…! I love it! The story just flows and the plot is pretty original — at least it is to me, since I’ve never read a HP fic like this before. I just love the backstory on why Purebloods are different and their reasoning and concern over accepting Muggleborns. It gives the Purebloods validity in their concerns because of the sacrifices they have to make to sustain their magical world.

I thought Draco was great in this fic. I like how he was the leader, taking care of everyone and making sure the younger Purebloods would be okay in the aftermath.

The conversation between Ron and Harry was very powerful. Ron understanding the ramifications and the scarifices that were made, and acknowledging that.

The H/D interaction was lovely — I liked how it was in the subtext. Though I do like more defined H/D stories as well, I think that it worked well for this fic. Even though it’s labeled H/D, I would also consider it a genfic.

Seriously, this fic is just powerful. MUST READ!

A Nick in Time

Okay, I’m not really a fan of Snarry (I might have mentioned it before), but occasionally I make exceptions, lol. I’m not even sure WHERE I found this fic, but somehow I did because it was saved under “TO READ” in my favorites and I read it while I was in Indianapolis for a convention a few months ago and yeah. LOVE!

Anyways, this is one of those classic de-aging fics. The general premise is that Harry and Severus wake up one day as seven year olds and Hermione and Ron end up taking care of them.

I really like the relationship between young!Harry and young!Snape and their friendship together. It’s just so cute and yeah. *heart* I also like the family dynamic between Harry, Severus, Ron, and Hermione, and also how Severus grows on Ron. =)

As for Severus, my heart just kind of goes out to him since he’s so suspicious of people’s motives and he’s just so self-conscious! I know that’s just how Tira Nog kind of characterized him for the fic, but it just kind of bugs me — not a lot, but just kind of that something-in-the back-of-your-mind way, if that makes any sense, lol.

Technically, this is a gen fic with a hint of Snarry at the end, so if Snarry isn’t your thing, it might still appeal to you. There is, however, a Snarry sequel to this fic, which I will be rec’ing next, haha.

I just think this is so cute, how Harry kind of takes care of Draco while Draco has mono. XP I’ve never had mono before, so I can’t really empathize with Draco, but yeah, haha. I just like how IC the characters, especially this part:

“You’re the only person who’s willing to come so close,” observes Draco, covering Potter in a coldly scrutinizing gaze. He pauses for a moment, letting Potter squirm slightly under his gaze. “Why have you been bringing me desserts?”

Oh Draco and your suspicious-ness! But I think I would be suspicious too, lol, if some person I wasn’t particularly friends with was helping me while I was sick. XP But yeah, it’s just funny how Draco goes from an observation to, “Why have you been bringing me desserts?” because OBVIOUSLY it’s not just about Harry helping him out with bringing cold things, but that it happens to be dessert as well! XD

Excerpt:

…“Can I remind you, Ron, that Fleur is shortly to become your sister?” she inquired. “Do you really think that underwear is an appropriate gift for your sister? Would you imagine Ginny in edible underwear?”

Ginny filed a very definite protest at this point, Ron went pale green, and Harry, as the only person present who quite fancied the idea of Ginny in edible underwear, avoided everyone’s eyes and stared steadfastly out the window.

Through the window he saw Draco Malfoy.

Harry thought he was a figment of Harry’s imagination for a moment. The thought of Malfoy had been occurring to him at unexpectedly regular intervals all summer, even through the wretched business of the Dursleys and Godric’s Hollow. The suspicions of a year were hard to shake off and sometimes he woke up in Ron’s room and before he was fully awake, he thought Today I’m going to find out what Malfoy’s up to…

Then he would remember that he had found out, and that Malfoy’s orders had been carried out, and the lingering memory of Malfoy’s ashen face would be replaced with the one unbearable image of Dumbledore going over the battlements…

[UPDATE @ Sept 18, 2009]: I admit, I haven’t finished reading QoM even though it’s been finished for a while. I’m still on chapter 15, from when it was still being posted WIP, but I will eventually get time to re-read from the begin and finish it. XP Until then, I can only say what I know from the first 15 chapters and the few spoilers I’ve seen on the fic. QoM is EPIC-LY LONG and is mostly a genfic, even if there is lots of Harry/Draco overtones. (Sadness because I am H/D all the way and H/G isn’t really appealing to me at all. Hopefully the ending makes it work in a believable way…)
